There is no single best AI agent, automation or software development company in India, because the best one depends on your problem, budget and size. Lists that rank companies are usually written by the companies on them. Instead of a ranking, use these eight checks to compare any provider, including us. We are Autopilot Studio, a team based in Jaipur, so we are one of the companies you may be considering, and we will tell you where we do and do not fit.
Indian MSMEs that have integrated AI into operations, per a 2026 Vi Business study.
MSMEs in the same study that see AI as a vital driver of growth.
GST on IT and software services. Quotes without it are not the real price.
Why is a "best companies" list the wrong tool?
Because it ranks companies, not fit. Some lists are paid placements or are written by agencies listing themselves first, and many do not say what a company is good at, what it costs or who it is wrong for. A large firm that is excellent for a bank may be a poor and expensive choice for a clinic. A small team that is ideal for a clinic may not suit a bank.
The useful question is not who is best but who is best for this problem, at this size, at this price. These eight checks answer that.
The adoption numbers above come from a company press release and are worth reading with care. Most small businesses are still deciding about AI, which means you are not late, and you can take time to choose properly.

What are the 8 checks?
1. Do they define the problem before the solution?
A good company asks what is costing you time or customers and how you will measure the fix. If the first call is a list of tools they sell, be careful.
2. Will they tell you when you do not need AI?
Plain automation is cheaper and more predictable for rule-based work. A company that always recommends an AI agent is selling, not advising. See how an AI agent differs from automation and why agents need limits.
3. Can you see real work and talk to a client?
Ask for a demo and one reference. Be wary of a portfolio of logos with no detail. Our results page shows what we have done, and you should ask every company for the same.
4. Is the quote itemised, with GST?
Software and IT services attract 18% GST in India, and B2B invoices need the company's GSTIN so you can claim input credit if you are registered. Ask for build, testing, training, handover, support and GST on separate lines. Confirm the rules with your chartered accountant, since sources differ on some details.

5. Are the running costs written down?
The build is a one-off. Running costs repeat: AI usage, hosting, and message fees. WhatsApp now charges per message. We explain the rupee prices in our WhatsApp pricing guide. For AI model costs, see why cheaper tokens may not cut your bill.
6. Do you own the work?
You should receive the workflows, code, accounts and documentation, and know how to run them without the company. If they keep the keys, you are renting, and switching later becomes expensive.
7. How do they handle your customer data?
India's DPDP Act applies to personal data, and tools that process customer details must be handled carefully. Ask where data is stored, which AI tools see it and how it is deleted. Our DPDP checklist covers the dates.
8. What happens when it breaks?
Automations fail quietly: an expired login, a changed form, a paused workflow. Ask about monitoring, alerts and response times, and who fixes it. See how to catch a silent failure. Also ask for a human approval step on anything that messages a customer.
Which red flags should make me walk away?
- A promise that AI will "transform" your business with no number attached.
- A single lump-sum price with no breakdown.
- Refusing to let you talk to a past client.
- No mention of running costs, GST or support.
- They keep ownership of your workflows or data.
- Pressure to sign today.
- 01
Write your problem in one line
For example: leads wait two days for a reply. Every quote will be measured against this.
- 02
Ask three providers the 8 checks
Use a mix: one small team, one mid-size firm and, if relevant, one big name. Keep notes.
- 03
Compare itemised quotes
Same scope, written down, with GST and running costs. Remove anything you do not need.
- 04
Begin with an audit or pilot
A small first step reveals how a team works before you commit to a bigger build.
How does Autopilot Studio compare?
We are a small team that builds AI automation and software for small and mid-size businesses. Our prices are published on the pricing page: basic software ₹20,000 to ₹40,000, software with AI automation from ₹40,000 up to ₹4 lakh and beyond, and an AI audit for ₹10,000 or $100.
We fit best if you have a repeated process, such as lead follow-up, customer replies, quotes or reports, and want it built and handed over properly. We are not built for very large enterprise programmes. If you want to learn to do it yourself, our course may be a better start than a build.
Local to Jaipur or Rajasthan? We have a Jaipur guide and a Rajasthan guide with questions specific to working with a nearby team.
